Our story: how it all began

Dare to bet on the dream

In 2015, I was pregnant with my second child and of course on the hunt for baby clothes for my little brother's arrival - but there wasn't an existing brand that made my heart skip a beat. Either the ethical aspect was missing - it feels wrong to buy children's clothing that originates from something that is not kind to other people or the environment - or the color scale was too loud, the materials not soft and comfortable or the price was too high.

Before the parental leave from my job as a prosecutor, I decided to invest in a dream I had had for a long time: to create something of my own and to use the more artistically creative side of myself. I grew up in a creative family - we always sat and drew at our big drawing table as kids, it was wonderful and I missed that part of me. At the same time, my upbringing has also had a strong academic character and starting something of my own was never an option. In other words, the decision was deep inside, but once it was made, I don't know how I would have survived without realizing this dream.

"Either the ethical aspect was missing or the color scheme was too garish, the materials not nice or the price was too high."

Thus, Coin de Rêve was born: a children's clothing brand where no compromises would be made regarding any of the qualities that I longed for for my own baby. It would be soft, organic materials of absolute top quality, with a classic design, but without sacrificing function and comfort, and in a beautiful and calm color scale. One of my watchwords in the design processes has been that 'the beautiful lives in the simple'.

I was inspired by the classic French children's clothing style, but also love the Scandinavian, clean. Coin de Rêve became a kind of fusion of these two styles, whose similarities and differences balance each other. It forms the basis of the design of Coin de Rêve.

Baby clothes with a beautiful soul

One of the cornerstones of Coin de Rêve is also that the production should be as 'kind' to those who work in it and to our planet, as the final product is to the babies who wear them. This is achieved with high ethical requirements , good working conditions, the use of non-toxic, high-quality materials and through the entire creative process being characterized and driven by love and care, for all children and for our planet. Ethical baby clothes with a beautiful soul. I see it as that particular soul giving the baby wearing the clothes (ie your baby and mine) something extra. Fluffy? Yes, maybe a little, but I love it :)

The idea that Coin de Rêve's clothes carry something is also connected to the brand and its symbol. Coin de Rêve means corner of a dream in French (and is pronounced Kwan de Revv). I imagine that it is a place where children's dreams can be free and fly like kites . The children will inherit our planet one day and it is our responsibility to make it the beautiful place they deserve. In every way we can. Our symbol, the dragon, should remind us of this.

"I feel like all of this gives our clothes a beautiful soul and that in turn gives something extra to the baby wearing them – ie your baby and my baby. Fuzzy? Maybe, but I love it."

Full time ethical baby clothes

I launched Coin de Rêve in our own webshop at the beginning of 2018. Since then, we have become a favorite with many parents and babies who appreciate the fine quality and genuine feel and uncompromisingness that the brand is driven by. We always deliver ethically produced premium quality baby clothes .

In the fall of 2023, I decided to take another step : from running Coin de Rêve alongside my work as a prosecutor to dedicating myself full-time to baby clothes. A big and scary decision, but I've never regretted it for a second. Of course, it's not always easy to run your own business , especially when you have three children and a dog - but even those periods when I needed 72 hours in a day to get everything together, I still have the privilege of working with something that I genuinely love.

I look forward with great joy to continuing to provide your babies with soft and organic clothes in classic and functional designs of top quality. The journey has just begun and I hope you want to join it!

A warm welcome to us!
