The GOTS certification

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an internationally recognized certification for organic textiles. Established in 2006, its main goal is to assure consumers about the organic quality of their textile products. GOTS encompasses two different levels of certification: one requiring at least 95% organic fibers and the other at least 70%. At Coin de Rêve, all our cotton clothing strictly adheres to the higher standard, featuring a minimum of 95% organic fibers. This certification is maintained by our trusted suppliers, including Bergman Rivera and Ekolteks, who handle our cotton production.

The GOTS certification follows two primary principles. Firstly, it ensures the use of natural fibers that are certified organic as per EU regulations. Secondly, it mandates comprehensive inspections throughout the entire production chain of the organic cotton to ensure all stages meet stringent criteria. GOTS imposes strict rules on chemical usage in cultivation and preparation, as well as upholding high social standards. It prohibits the use of toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, bleaching agents, and aromatic solvents above a certain threshold. Moreover, the use of GMOs (genetically modified organisms) is completely forbidden.
